Although he began the 2024 season as an off-the-bench complement to Zack Moss, it didn't take long for Brown to make clear that he was the top running back on the Bengals roster. It was probably in Week 4 that the Bengals coaching staff got the hint, as Brown turned 15 carries into 80 yards and two touchdowns against Carolina in a game where Moss produced just 51 yards on 15 carries. Brown would go on to out-touch Moss in the next four games, at which point Moss suffered a season-ending neck injury. Brown demonstrated uncommon pass-catching upside in his final eight games, catching 38 receptions, so as a full-season starter it would appear he has the ability to claim standout volume as a runner and receiver both. The Bengals signed accomplished passing-down back Samaje Perine in free agency and might give him upwards of 30 snaps per game, but Brown (4.43-second 40-yard dash) gives the Bengals a big-play threat from scrimmage that they haven't had in many years, even before Joe Mixon was drafted. Brown withstood massive usage volumes in college at Illinois, so if the Bengals give Brown a big workload history says he has a good chance of holding up under the burden.
