Tyler Allgeier

Allgeier is a capable starter and might one day have the chance to prove it, but in the meantime he's simply an overqualified backup to a top-five NFL running back. The Falcons would love to have enough leads to give carries to both Allgeier and Bijan Robinson in a given game, but the fact is Atlanta is unlikely to be more than a middling team, and in the vast majority of games they'll need to urgently feed Robinson to stay competitive. If Robinson were to miss any time, though, then Allgeier already proved he can plug in and thrive as a starter. Allgeier was a starter for most of his 2022 rookie season, when he ran for 1,035 yards and three touchdowns on 210 carries (4.9 YPC). Although Allgeier will never be the dangerous pass-catching threat Robinson is, Allgeier is actually a fully competent passing-down back - it's just that Allgeier is probably a little more valuable as a blocker than a receiver, even though Allgeier has good hands (88.7 percent career catch rate). Allgeier has yet to fumble in the NFL, too, so he's quietly one of the NFL's most capable all-around running backs.
