Moehrig was a key contributor to the Raiders' secondary throughout his rookie contract, though the team opted to sign Jeremy Chinn this offseason and let Moehrig walk in free agency. He instead landed a substantial three-year, $51 million deal with a Panthers' defense that was desperate to improve. His consistent strengths as a pro have been his ability to support in run defense and reliably get ball carriers to the ground. His fit in Carolina is ideal in that regard, as he should work primarily as the strong safety, with Demani Richardson and Nick Scott the favorites to see snaps at free safety, hiding some of his deficiencies in coverage. Given the investment Carolina made in Moehrig, he's a safe bet to be on the field, and his projected role should make him a reliable fantasy producer.
