After surpassing 100 tackles in both 2021 and 2022, Thompson has taken a step back in terms of production under head coach Jonathan Gannon the past two seasons, totaling 176 stops in 30 games during that stretch. Such output equates to 99.7 tackles per 17 games, so Thompson is capable of relevance as an IDP if he's able to put together a full campaign. However, with standout safety Budda Baker coming off a career-best 164 tackles last year, Thompson remains second fiddle in Arizona's defensive backfield.
