Apart from staying healthy, not much went right during Odunze's rookie season. He arrived in Chicago as the ninth overall pick last spring, alongside No. 1 overall selection Caleb Williams, who also had WR DJ Moore, WR Keenan Allen and TE Cole Kmet at his disposal. Odunze ultimately drew 101 targets and even had a few big games, but there were 12 instances of 42 or fewer receiving yards and 11 with single-digit PPR points. Among 32 WRs that ran 500-plus routes, Odunze was 24th in target rate (17.3 percent) and 23rd in yards per route (1.26) despite ranking 10th in YAC average (4.8). The Bears, meanwhile, were 13th in pass attempts but 31st in passing yards, undone by a combination of poor blocking, bad coaching and an ugly rookie season from Williams. None of that deterred Detroit's star offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who had turned down a slew of other head-coach opportunities the past two years. After hiring Johnson, the Bears acquired three new veteran starters for their interior O-line, including two-time All-Pro Joe Thuney. They also let Allen walk, which means Odunze will have less competition for snaps/targets in addition to better coaching and blocking. It all adds up to a strong Year 2 breakout case, backed by Odunze's excellent physical traits (he ran a 4.45 40 at 6-3, 212) and standout college production (2,785 receiving yards his final two years at Washington). He isn't exactly under the radar, unfortunately, so he only makes sense at ADP if you expect a big step forward for Chicago's offense as a whole.
