Moore broke through in 2023, his sixth pro season, with career highs for catches (96), receiving yards (1,364) and TDs (nine) while catching passes from Justin Fields in an otherwise subpar offense. Mediocre though he may be, Fields arguably was the best QB that Moore had played with since entering the NFL in 2018 at the end of Cam Newton's run in Carolina. No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams looked to Moore plenty last season, with 140 targets being the second most of his career, but they overwhelmingly connected on short passes as Moore's aDOT (7.5) and yards per catch (9.9) fell more than 15 percent below his previous career lows. His 39 targets behind the line of scrimmage were the most for any wide receiver, with 27 of those coming over the final eight games after OC Shane Waldron was fired (and replaced by Thomas Brown). The Bears moved on from Brown this offseason, and also from WR Keenan Allen, later drafting TE Coltson Loveland at No. 10 overall and WR Luther Burden at No. 39 to ensure new head coach Ben Johnson will have plenty of weapons at his disposal. Johnson's work in Detroit was about as encouraging as it gets, and the Bears also acquired three new veteran starters for the interior O-line. If Williams isn't a bust it'll be the best situation Moore's ever been in, albeit with tougher target competition relative to his excellent 2023. The biggest concern at this point is that Williams might not be good, with his 68 sacks as a rookie stretching far beyond acceptable levels even for a rookie QB with poor blocking.
