Few running backs in distant NFL history come close to the tantalizing athletic ability of Guerendo, who at 6-feet, 220 pounds has true burning speed (4.33 40) and elite explosiveness (41.5-inch vertical, 129-inch broad jump). It's such a shame, then, that Guerendo might be one of the most uniquely fragile running backs in league history. Guerendo has had horrendous injury luck for all but one of the past six years, at one point in college suffering hamstring tears two years in a row before suffering a Lisfranc injury the third year. In his 2024 rookie year Guerendo missed time at various points with hamstring, groin and foot injuries, and in the season finale against Arizona he suffered an MCL sprain and ankle sprain in the same leg. As if to make all of this more tormenting, Guerendo has real running back skill in addition to his ridiculous athleticism - Guerendo runs with power and is likely an above-average receiver - but it just isn't clear whether his otherwise incredible upside will ever come to true fruition. For now Guerendo will remain a boom-or-bust backup to Christian McCaffrey.
