Smythe was Miami's clear No. 1 tight end in 2023, but that role didn't translate to much production. He set a career high with 366 yards but didn't get into the end zone, as the Dolphins ran their quick-strike offense through wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, as well as running backs Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane. Smythe has just three touchdowns in 95 NFL games, and while his blocking skills will likely keep him on the field, his already small slice of the pass-catching pie will likely shrink even further after Miami signed fellow tight end Jonnu Smith to a two-year deal in the offseason.
