A 2023 seventh-round pick, Hellams started his rookie season as a special teamer, playing 60 defensive snaps over the first 10 games. He carved out a defensive role following Atlanta's Week 11 bye and started his final three appearances, recording 21 tackles. Hellams finished last year with 40 tackles across 354 defensive snaps and was on track to compete with Richie Grant for reps to start 2024. However, a severe ankle injury will sideline Hellams to begin the campaign, and the Falcons shored up their safety depth at the end of training camp by signing Justin Simmons.
