Chubb made a somewhat successful return from ACL, MCL and meniscus tear in September of 2023, playing eight games and 225 snaps beginning in Week 7. Chubb was nowhere near his usual self, however, averaging just 3.3 yards per carry. Chubb's comeback ended in Week 15 due to a broken foot, the recovery from which will be an ongoing concern in a long list of durability worries for Chubb. The season-ending 2023 injury was preceded in 2015 by an MCL, PCL and LCL tear in the same left knee, so Chubb's otherwise freakish athleticism and work ethic has already been tested more than the vast majority of running backs could withstand. Now 29 and turning 30 in late December, Chubb might or might not get another chance to spearhead an NFL running game as a power-oriented rushing specialist. Chubb was a free agent as of early May, and no specifics had surfaced regarding the recovery from his broken foot injury.
