It's not common to say that a 30-year-old edge rusher had a career year, particularly one with the pedigree of Williams. That's arguably what we got from Williams, however, and his alignment along the defensive line in coach Mike Macdonald's defensive scheme provides a pretty clear explanation. Williams lined up along the interior of the offensive line for only 349 snaps, the second-lowest rate of his career and lowest since 2020. That gave him more opportunities over tackle and even outside tackle, allowing him to make the most of his pass-rushing snaps. Where Williams' true step forward may have come was as a run defender. He logged the most overall tackles and tackles for loss of his career. Seattle continues to bolster its edge and outside linebacker positions, but Williams should remain the leader of the group in 2025.
