Guessing Tracy's trajectory from here isn't easy, but his 2024 rookie season was promising, especially for a player who was in only his second year playing running back full-time. He previously played wide receiver at Iowa and Purdue, so for him to claim a starting role with the Giants as a rookie fifth-round pick is a triumph regardless of how the rest of his career goes. That Tracy is an ongoing conversion case means he might suddenly improve at various RB functions where he struggled previously, even though he's one of the oldest players (25) from his draft class. With that said, Tracy will need to improve in order to remain a clear starter ahead of rookie fourth-round pick Cam Skattebo and veteran Devin Singletary. It was easy for the Giants to give Tracy a long leash in an already-wasted 2024 season, but the coaches aren't likely to continue tolerating one fumble for every 46 touches (five times on 230 touches last year). While his receiving work last season was perhaps slightly disappointing for a WR convert, Tracy did well to average 4.4 yards per carry in a terrible offense with bad blocking, making him the favorite to enter Week 1 of 2025 as New York's starting RB.
