Guessing Tracy's trajectory from here isn't easy, but his 2024 rookie season was promising, especially for a player who was in only his second year playing running back full-time. He previously played wide receiver at Iowa and Purdue, so for him to claim a starting role with the Giants as a rookie fifth-round pick is a triumph regardless of how the rest of his career goes. That Tracy is an ongoing conversion case means he might all of a sudden start improving at various running back functions where he failed previously, even though he's one of the oldest players (25) from his draft class. With that said, Tracy will need to improve in order to remain a clear starter. It was easy for the Giants to give him a long leash in an already-wasted 2024 season, but the coaches aren't likely to continue tolerating one fumble for every 46 touches (five times on 230 touches last year). While his receiving work was perhaps slightly disappointing for a WR convert, Tracy averaged 4.4 yards per carry in a terrible offense with bad blocking last year, likely making him the favorite to enter Week 1 of 2025 in a starting role.
