Guessing Tracy's trajectory from here isn't easy, but his 2024 rookie season was promising, especially for a player who was in only his second year playing running back. Tracy previously played wide receiver at Iowa and Purdue, so for him to claim the starting running back role with the Giants is a triumph regardless of how his career goes from here. That Tracy is an ongoing conversion case means he might all of a sudden start improving at various running back functions where he failed previously, and if that happens he could possess unique fantasy upside, especially given his former background as a receiver. With that said, as much as Tracy might get better as a running back he also needs to get better as a running back to remain a clear starter for the Giants. It was easy for the Giants to give Tracy a long leash in an already-wasted 2024 season, but when the games get serious again the Giants coaches are unlikely to tolerate another five fumbles on 230 touches from scrimmage. If Tracy fixes up his fumbling then he should get every chance to win the starting role with the Giants going into 2025, but if he doesn't polish up the rougher parts of his game then he might be at risk of falling into a rotation.
