The Chiefs selected Hicks in the fourth round of April's NFL Draft, and he was considered by many to be a steal at that slot as one of the better safeties in the class. The 22-year-old is slated to begin the 2024 campaign in a depth role behind starting safeties Justin Reid and Bryan Cook. Hicks got the chance to work with the first-team defense in training camp while Reid was out with a quad injury, suggesting that the rookie could be asked to step up if either Reid or Cook ends up sidelined at any point.
