Gabriel was the first of two quarterbacks drafted by the Browns in April. While he's overshadowed by the other, Shadeur Sanders, Gabriel was third in line during early OTAs. That pattern held up when minicamp began in June. It's a rebuilding season in Cleveland, but it unlikely sees the "future" in either QB. The team also added veterans Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco, who at 40, was the best of the four in OTAs. The Browns are expected to get by with this lot for 2025 before seeking a franchise quarterback in next year's draft, but they'll kick the tires on Gabriel for 17 weeks to see if he's a long-term fit.
