For the first time in around seven years, there are significant questions about Heyward's ability to impact an opposing offense. He played all but 20 snaps of the 2023 season at less than full strength after suffering a groin injury in Week 1, which caused him to miss the Steelers' next six games. Given that context, it wouldn't be wise to take his downturn in production last season solely on face value. However, Heyward is now entering his age-35 season, so it's fair to ask whether father time has caught up to him. It's also worth noting that Heyward held out of OTAs while seeking a new contract, though unless he's prepared to retire prior to the 2024 season if he doesn't receive an extension, he holds little leverage over the team.
