Echols had a strong rookie year with the Jets in 2021, but his production declined over the next two seasons. However, he bounced back in 2024, totaling 40 tackles (29 solo), two interceptions and three pass defenses over 16 regular-season appearances while operating in a rotational role. Echols inked a two-year deal with the Steelers during the offseason and should compete with Beanie Bishop for snaps as the team's slot corner.
