Hill topped 1,700 receiving yards his first two years in Miami while leading the league in yards per route both seasons, besting his production from Kansas City despite a downgrade in quarterback play. It all fell apart in 2024, with Hill playing through a wrist injury all year, QB Tua Tagovailoa missing six games, and opposing defensive coordinators seemingly catching up to Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel. Despite playing all 17 games, Hill's targets and receptions dropped by about 30 percent relative to 2022-23, and his yardage sank even further as he slumped to 11.8 yards per reception. He had wrist surgery after the season and otherwise boasts a strong track record of durability, but other contributing factors to his 2024 decline aren't so easily corrected. Tagovailoa's repeated concussions remain at the forefront of any discussion about Miami's offense -- a problem compounded by offensive line struggles last season. The previously explosive offense became a station-to-station operation, relying on quick throws to RB De'Von Achane and TE Jonnu Smith rather than big plays from Hill and Jaylen Waddle. It's possible that gets corrected with better injury luck for Tagovailoa and Hill, but the latter is now 31 years old and no longer safely assumed to be in an elite situation for production, which means there's real risk his days as a high-end WR1 are in the rearview mirror. The good news is that Hill isn't a first-round fantasy pick anymore, creating potential for a huge reward if he comes close to his 2022-23 production.
