The Dolphins' selection of Ewers in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft signals developmental interest, though the team is financially committed to Zach Wilson as the backup to Tua Tagovailoa for at least this season. Having started three seasons at Texas after a one-year stint at Ohio State, Ewers is as close to NFL-ready as collegiate experience can bring a prospect, and he boasts more upside than falling to the final round of the draft would indicate. Injuries plagued Ewers throughout his college career, and related concerns are no doubt primarily responsible for his draft slide.
