The 2023 fourth-round pick didn't suit up for a single game in his rookie campaign, suffering a shoulder injury before spending the remainder of the season on the reserve/non-football illness list with what turned out to be a case of burnout. The Rams picked up veteran Jimmy Garoppolo on a one-year deal to serve as a backup with Bennett's status unclear, and the two will likely compete for the primary backup role to incumbent Matthew Stafford. The 26-year-old Bennett may have one key edge in that battle, as Garoppolo will be suspended for the first two games of the season, and during the Rams' OTAs the former has shown flashes of the talent that helped him lead Georgia to two national titles.
