Addison's second pro season in 2024 ultimately looked a lot like his rookie campaign, featuring a high rate of big plays and touchdowns on about 6.5 targets per game. He looks very much worthy of the 23rd overall pick Minnesota spent on him, having instantly become an above-average No. 2 receiver despite being one of the younger players from his draft class (he turned 23 in January). The switch from Kirk Cousins to Sam Darnold didn't seem to bother Addison, and he might've had his first 1,000-yard season if not for an ankle sprain that cost him two full games and parts of two others early in the season. His disappointing pre-draft 40 time (4.49) hasn't translated to a lack of explosiveness in the NFL, and while he's about as physical as one might expect of a thin wideout (5-11, 175), Addison has consistently performed well in an offense that has WR Justin Jefferson and TE T.J. Hockenson handling the types of routes/targets that require more physicality. The downside of an otherwise excellent situation in Minnesota under star coach Kevin O'Connell is that Addison is unlikely to average more than 6-7 targets per game unless Jefferson and/or Hockenson miss significant time. And then there's the uncertainty surrounding young QB J.J. McCarthy, although some of the concern in that regard was mitigated when revived draft bust Sam Darnold threw for 35 touchdowns in Minnesota last season. The other issue for Addison is a possible suspension due to his DUI arrest last summer, with three games being the most common punishment for similar incidents involving other players.
