Jones' exit from Green Bay and subsequent landing in Minnesota was a case where both teams benefited from the change, though the Packers no doubt wish Jones had landed almost anywhere else. Even if the Packers found an upgrade in Josh Jacobs, the Vikings got a free upgrade themselves in Jones, who has long been one of the NFL's most uniquely explosive and elusive runners. With that said, Jones turned 30 in December and had a rough second half to the 2024 season following a fast start. Jones was never built for volume at the NFL level at under 210 pounds and lacking anchor, so it would make sense that he would start a season faster than he would finish it, especially if he was taking on a big workload in the time between. That the Vikings traded for a clear power back upgrade in Jordan Mason would seemingly indicate the Vikings agree that Jones' workload should be contained somewhat, especially with regard to power concepts. Elusive as he is, Jones can get knocked off his feet if the defense herds him into a phone booth, and Mason is no doubt there to take some of those collisions off Jones' plate.
