Returning to Buffalo on a one-year contract positions Hamlin to reprise a starting role at safety in 2025. He played essentially an every-down role on defense across 14 regular-season appearances in 2024, tallying 89 tackles (62 solo), five pass breakups (including two INTs) and one forced fumble. The Bills typically deploy Taylor Rapp in the box, with Hamlin focusing more on coverage, but Buffalo's defensive scheme allows opposing running backs to get through the first line of defense at a somewhat inflated rate, so both safeties possess a high tackling floor.
