The New York Rangers have fired Peter Laviolette as head coach after two seasons.
The Rangers went from winning the Presidents’ Trophy last season to finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference this season.
Associate coach Phil Housley has also been fired.
Miro Heiskanen is out for Game 1 but is now upgraded to day-to-day status, per Stars head coach Pete DeBoer.
