Maybe this is just my conspiracy theory mind at work, but I'm thinking maybe Miami is just doing this to get him to shut up and play out his contract. He'll be in a much better position in free agency after 2025 if he plays this season in Miami. Going to Pittsburgh would hurt his chances of getting a decent contract after the season (unless it's a trade-and-extend deal).
