Dude secured the ball with the ground, but it should have been pi anyway so doesn’t matter what people think if he caught it or not

L0neW01f3773 3 months ago

That ball can hit the ground if he already has possession, but he landed with the ball hitting the ground first, and he didn’t pass the time threshold to gain possession, therefore it’s not a catch.

kylecarter 3 months ago

i dont think yall understand that you think you know the rules better than the fucking refs💀

YuSefRayford 3 months ago

That's a pass interference, but that was for sure a catch tho lol

L0neW01f3773 3 months ago

If the ball is the first thing to touch down on the ground when attempting to complete the process of a catch it is called an incomplete pass, you have to get your hands under the ball so it doesn’t hit the ground

YuSefRayford 3 months ago

No not anymore

YuSefRayford 3 months ago

Simultaneous is a thing now....

YuSefRayford 3 months ago

Ball can touch the ground and the receiver can have two hands on it. That's a catch now as long as the ball isn't moving....and the ball wasn't moving so it's deemed possessed

TurtleRancher 3 months ago

The whole what is a catch, what is not a catch came from the NFL covering up a blown call in the 1999-00 NFC Championship game where Bert Emmanuel caught a ball that they called incomplete and cost the Bucs the game.

L0neW01f3773 3 months ago

@kylecarter I would personally say this is a catch, by I am going off the nfl rule book, and what has been called in previous games. I don’t care what way the want to call that, they just need to be consistent. If one player catches a pass like that and they call it incomplete, then when someone else does it it should also be incomplete

YuSefRayford 3 months ago

The old rule...ground can't cause a fumble but can cause an incomplete pass is jaded now....it's not cut an dry

YuSefRayford 3 months ago

What am I missing?!?

TurtleRancher 3 months ago

The rule is so long as the receiver has the ball and it doesn’t move during the catch - including hitting the ground - it’s a catch. It’s a dumb rule, but it has been the rule for 20+ years.

yall ignoring the effect bias has in sports and its egregious

Mel Kiper gave the Cleveland Browns an A+ Draft Grade: “The other main reason I gave the Browns an A+ shouldn't be a surprise. They got quarterback Shedeur Sanders at No. 144 to finish their seven-pick draft. He was my No. 5 overall prospect in the class and clear QB1.”

PaysenAE  •  4 hours ago

<@jjffndj> idk how y’all think you can make this abt race when Cam Ward was the no. 1 overall pick and Jalen Milroe went as well. No one cares abt race anymore, the reason no one wants to draft Shedeur is bc of the drama that comes with him (ie. DEION)

HonestAbe111  •  7 hours ago

Strategy would be to start Hunter as an IDP. Have another player in the wideout slot

Is that a ball sack on the screen in the background ?
