From what I understand, Darnold can’t be CPOY. Apparently the committee was pissed about Mayfield getting it, as it’s intended for a player that ascended to “greatness”, fell off (usually due to injury or major issue) and came back to greatness. Seems like an asinine and arbitrary stance to take, but that’s just what I’ve heard.
