Players get to play 10 years if they’re lucky, it’s not like your average career. They’re trying to get as much as they can as quick as they can. Never know when that body is going to give out.

This is how modern athletes handle contracts now, because they can. If we were in that position we’d like an extra $20 million a year if possible.
Why take $20 mil a year when they’ll easily double that. He’s performing at a high level, and he deserves a fat contract. Doesn’t really matter if the Cowboys pay it, because teams would line up for a franchise QB to pay.
Why not take less money to build a better team around you rather than just being a greedy person. Who cares if people at the same position make more. Being a pro athlete is about results. It’s about winning. Tom Brady is a testament to that for example

Daks agent is terrible and the cowboys will realize they don’t need to pay him the outrageous salary he wants because a QB of equal talent will throw for that team for less
