According to some ESPN analysts, this is not the first time they heard about the derogatory comments. However, it seems like this is the first time they have decided to report about it. If it comes out anything was said to that degree, Mason Rudolph should be suspended and fined. However, this does nothing to the validity that Garrett went above and beyond in retaliation and should not have his suspension lessened.

This presumably means the league combed through the available audio, which was likely abundant considering the number of mic'd up players. Rudolph's teammates leapt to his defense on Thursday, while Garrett's mostly declined to provide comment. It appears this will be the last we hear of the matter in an official capacity. Suspended through at least the end of the season, Garrett can apply for reinstatement in the winter.
