You're expecting a lot from a guy who couldn't start for the Titans/Jets lackluster receiving core. Michael Thomas, Alvin Kamara, Ted Ginn, Jared Cook, Tre'quan Smith are all going to be above him in the pecking order. If Meredith is healthy, he'll also start over him.

Titans made all kinds of puzzling playing time decisions though- Matthews wasn’t given a real shot despite their struggles and despite his pst success. Not saying he handled it well or anything, but past performance and talent was there
