The Commanders are waiving defensive lineman Phidarian Mathis, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Mathis, drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft from Alabama, was in the middle of a four-year, $7.5 million rookie contract. In 2024, he played 12 games and recorded 17 total tackles and one pass defended.
