Denver Broncos' coach, Sean Payton, admitted to having played a part in persuading the Minnesota Vikings into making a trade on the draft-day. Payton says he led the Vikings to believe the Broncos were intending to move up in the first round to draft J.J. McCarthy. In response, the Vikings moved up one spot, trading their positions with the New York Jets while giving up a fourth- and fifth-round pick. In reality, the Broncos' gesture did not bring them any additional benefits as they ended up selecting Bo Nix.
