Cavs fan here. I don’t mind this. He adds wing defense which cavs lack. Remember, Cavs can beat any team in the East… except the Celtics. So Cavs are being very strategic trying to build a roster that can stop Boston. Okoro and Simmons are two great defenders. Cavs want okoro on Jaylen brown and Simmons + Mobley on Tatum. Levert and Niang did nothing for the Cavs defensively. Love these roster upgrades.

It gives them the ability to go big by swapping garland out or small shifting Allen out and moving Mobley to the 5. It adds wing defense and a facilitator for the second unit. In the playoffs one of garland or Mitchell will be on the court the whole 48 minutes anyway. Simmons will fill a rotation spot for the 3-5. It’s a great pickup. He isn’t a superstar, it passing, size, and defense do matter and can’t be written off.
