This stat is extremely flawed. Anyone that has actually studied statistics can tell you that. And by the way, I believe AJ Brown is an absolute beast. Perhaps this stat is nothing more than confirmation of that to some degree, but it takes into account entirely way too many factors for it to be anything other than “interesting”.
In other words, this stat needs more context. It’s silly, otherwise.
It shows efficiency and market share in one stat. It's not silly.
Taking account of run plays where the WR was on the field but didn’t actually run a route actually deflates the value of that WR, because it inflates the value of WRs that weren’t on the field for running plays.
Efficiency? What efficiency? Market share? What are you talking about?
This is absolutely a ridiculous stat. It shows nothing. Whoever found the stat just saw some names that had similar production and found it interesting.
And that’s all it is: interesting
There is no context. No accountability in the stat.
It’s silly.

It is yards per routes run so it doesn't take run plays into account. Only pass plays. Easily shows who are the most efficient players. Everytime there is a pass play, these guys get the most yards each time. Probably want those guys lol.
This stat definitely does not only include pass plays. 2.76 yards per pass play? LOL

Look, here’s factual stats....with context. 2014 Beckham: played 771 snaps 2019 AJ Brown: played 678 snaps
If the qb's yard per pass is 8 yds. Then the receivers yards per route run would be less.

Snaps do include plays. I understand that. That’s why this stat is more efficient and gives context.
And that is why the “yards per route run” is silly. You could literally run ONE play for 50 yards and this stat is meaningless.
But then only one snap for a guy would be easily identifiable and we would know we need a bigger sample size.
Both AJ Brown & Beckham were on the field 68% of the time as rookies.
