The Athletic's Matt Barrows reports the 49ers have discussed an extension for contract-year WR Kendrick Bourne. Going on 25, Bourne will be playing on his restricted free agent tender this season. Bourne has proven to be invaluable depth for the 49ers' undermanned receiver corps over the past few seasons, though he committed some high-profile mistakes in 2019. Bourne has taken on greater 2020 importance in the wake of Deebo Samuel's foot injury. Any extension would be team-friendly, as Bourne will not be a hot commodity in next spring's free agent market.

What did he do to deserve an extension? He has 88 catches and 1100 yards for his 3 year career and under 70% catch rate for his career

On a run first offense and when in the redzone was targeted the 3rd most by grappolo, and his catch rate for a 3rd year reciever was 69%, they only have a handful of recievers left and they wont spend money on AB its ayuik/bourne/kittle and trent Taylor's until he gets hurt the first quarter of the game and is out for the season. The dude had the second most 2rd down conversion when receiving which means grappolo trusts him. The stats are there and so is the connection hes is a great late round flyer especially because of deebo being out the first 2 games of not more @kvnklly
